FAQ's

Online therapy takes place via a platform called Microsoft Teams. You will be guided through how to use this when you have your assessment with us if you aren’t already familiar with it. From then on, each session your therapist will create a secure appointment for you and will email you a personalised link to access the session. If you use an outlook diary, your therapist will be able to sync the appointment with this to make sessions easily accessible. All you need to do is click on the link at the time of the appointment and follow the steps to enter the meeting.

Microsoft Teams allows you and your therapist to have either video or audio calls from anywhere in the world. It also allows your therapist to share documents with you so you can work on them together, and to use an electronic white board to help facilitate learning during therapy.

We find that online sessions suit most people, although some people do have a preference for face to face sessions. Online sessions make therapy really convenient as you can access therapy from anywhere in the world and can easily fit this into a busy routine. We would suggest you give online sessions a go as most people report being pleasantly surprised at how effective and convenient they are.

You will have a direct email address for your therapist which you can use to contact them during the course of your sessions. Your therapist will email you handouts, usually including information sheets / video links / worksheets at the end of sessions so that you can learn and work on skills between sessions. You can then either send these back to your therapist by email, or show these to your therapist in session using the screen share function.

All session fees are due 24 hours in advance of each booked session, and are payable via the payment portal on this website.

This can vary greatly depending on the person and the problem, although on average people tend to access 12-20 sessions of therapy. Your therapist will be able to give you a more accurate assessment of how many sessions you may need as therapy progresses.

When you have completed your initial assessment, you will also set some therapy goals and complete questionnaires which you and your therapist will typically review every 6 sessions to ensure you are making good progress in therapy and moving towards achieving your goals.

Confidentiality is very important in therapy and we take this very seriously at Sereno Therapy. Remote therapy sessions are incredibly secure, they take place via a session created specifically for you by your therapist which is password protected. All Sereno Therapy therapists and clients sign confidentiality contracts before therapy can begin – these detail the exact parameters of confidentiality and occasions under which this may need to be broken. This is to ensure you feel safe and secure in your sessions to be open about your difficulties.

We try and encourage clients to attend regular sessions and to commit to attending all booked sessions. We do understand that there are occasions where this may not be possible however, and in these instances we would ask you to email your therapist as soon as possible to advise them of this. If you cancel the session with more than 24 hours’ notice then you can simply re-book an alternative appointment with your therapist. If you cancel within 24 hours’ notice or do not attend the session (without any notice) then the session will still be chargeable in full.
